Contractual Terms

General Booking Terms

Last updated: 2026-08-20 L'Empreinte du Désert

1. Purpose & Spirit of Journeys

These terms govern inquiries for camel treks, nomadic bivouacs, 4x4 circuits, and bespoke retreats arranged by L'Empreinte du Désert. Our journeys are crafted traditionally in direct collaboration with native Saharan guides from M'Hamid El Ghizlane, respecting the desert pace, fragile ecosystems, and traveler safety.

2. Booking Request (0€ Non-Binding)

Submitting a booking request via our platform is a free preliminary assessment with zero upfront payment. In compliance with fair commercial practices (Law 31-08), our local team connects with you within 24 hours to confirm: • Desired trek itinerary and pacing; • Exact dates and scheduling flexibility; • Group size and physical readiness; • Specific dietary or health considerations; • Guide, camel, and bivouac availability. Booking becomes definitive only upon mutual written confirmation and receipt of the agreed deposit.

3. Inclusions & Exclusions

Exact inclusions are specified on every personalized quote. Unless stated otherwise, INCLUDED: • Leadership by native desert guides and local camel drivers; • Full-board meals (fireside cooked dishes, traditional sand bread, mineral water, and tea); • Complete bivouac gear (comfortable mattresses, clean linens, wool blankets, traditional tents); • Pack camels for baggage and logistical transport; • Agreed road transfers (Marrakech / Ouarzazate / Zagora / M'Hamid). EXCLUDED: • International flights; • Personal travel, cancellation, and repatriation insurance; • Customary tips for the nomad crew (in Morocco, tipping is a customary gesture rewarding hospitality and dedication); • Personal expenditures and extra purchases.

4. Terrain Conditions & Safety Adjustments

The Sahara is a dynamic wild environment. For group safety and comfort, our guides reserve the right to adapt routes, shift camp locations, or adjust daily walking hours during unexpected weather (sandstorms, flash oued flooding, high heat) without constituting a breach of contract.

5. Physical Health & Mandatory Insurance

Travelers must choose an itinerary matching their physical condition and disclose any relevant medical history (heart conditions, asthma, allergies, medication). Every traveler is required to carry personal travel insurance covering emergency medical assistance and repatriation. L'Empreinte du Désert accepts no liability for lack of adequate personal coverage.

6. Cancellation Terms

Cancellations must be sent in writing (Email or WhatsApp). Due to prior mobilization of native guides, camels, and provisions: • More than 30 days prior: free date rescheduling or refund as agreed; • 29 to 7 days prior: retention of initial logistical deposit; • Less than 7 days or no-show: full trip balance retained. In case of cancellation by us due to force majeure, all paid amounts are fully transferable or refundable.
